Searching for an organic chemist to solve problems?
Your quest for a solution may end here, depending on what you wish to
accomplish. Few others can offer proven
problem solving skills in organic synthesis within discovery and early
process chemistry and experience in solving a broad spectrum of problems
which involve synthesis, design of insectides and nematocides as well as
minimization of drug degradation and development of odor control agents.
Demonstrated capabilities in designing efficient syntheses and
application of the principle of selective toxicity are reflected in
recent
awards. This consolidates a Master of Science degree in Medicinal Chemistry,
additonal graduate courses in organic synthesis and biochemistry plus
extensive laboratory experience in organic synthesis.
My experience includes the synthesis of diverse
organic molecules
from anilines and pyridine derivatives to carbocyclic nucleosides. The
strategy of investing a few hours searching databases such as SciFinder and
Beilstein, followed by tweaking selected procedures has often reduced
hours, if not weeks in the laboratory. Although accurate and sufficiently
detailed information is crucial for making the right decisions, many
individuals meander in the field of information retrieval. In a
world of cognitively overloaded human-beings, it would be futile to ignore
the literature.
The general approach outlined translates into reducing the frustration of
performing difficult organic reactions, in addition to minimizing waste from
redundant experiments. It is not a panacea; the literature can also be a
source of misinformation. A good measure of critical thinking is needed.
